The Enemy Steals What God Told Us
Matthew 13:13-15 NLT
13 That is why I use these parables, For they look, but they don’t really see.
They hear, but they don’t really listen or understand.14 This fulfills the prophecy of Isaiah that says, ‘When you hear what I say, you will not understand. When you see what I do, you will not comprehend. 15 For the hearts of these people are hardened, and their ears cannot hear, and they have closed their eyes— so their eyes cannot see, and their ears cannot hear, and their hearts cannot understand,
and they cannot turn to me and let me heal them.’
The parable of the sower highlights the vulnerability of our hearts to the schemes of the enemy. When God's Word is sown in our hearts, the enemy seeks to snatch it away before it can take root and bear fruit. Just as birds devour seeds along the path, Satan seeks to steal the Word from our hearts, preventing it from transforming our lives.
One of the enemy's tactics is to prey on hearts that are hardened by life experiences or misconceptions about God. The hardness of our hearts makes us susceptible to his attacks, allowing him to steal the Word before it can penetrate deeply within us. It's crucial to guard our hearts against hardness and remain open to God's truth.
Another strategy of the enemy is to exploit tribulation and persecution to cause us to stumble. When trials arise because of the Word, Satan seeks to discourage us and undermine our faith. However, James 1:2-4 reminds us that trials produce perseverance and maturity in our faith when we endure them with God's strength.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, we recognize the enemy's attempts to steal Your Word from our hearts. Strengthen us to guard our hearts against hardness and to stand firm in the face of trials and persecution. May Your Word take root deeply within us, producing abundant fruit for Your glory. In Jesus' name, amen.
