Nurturing Our Faith
Colossians 2:6-7 ESV
"Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving."
Faith, like any living thing, requires nourishment and care to grow. It isn’t something that can be left on its own, hoping it will thrive. We must be intentional in cultivating it, providing the right conditions for it to blossom. This involves immersing ourselves in God’s Word, engaging in prayer, and participating in community with other believers. Each of these activities waters the seed of faith, allowing it to root deeply and withstand the challenges of life.
It’s also important to recognize that nurturing faith is an ongoing process. Just as a gardener doesn’t water a plant once and expect it to grow forever, we can’t expect our faith to flourish from occasional attention. Regular, disciplined spiritual practices help maintain and expand our faith, ensuring that it remains vibrant and active.
The benefits of such a nurtured faith are immense. It becomes a source of strength in times of trouble and a guiding light in periods of darkness. Moreover, a well-tended faith can inspire those around us, providing a testament to God’s love and power.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, help us to diligently nurture the faith You have planted within us. May we commit to regular spiritual practices that water and feed our faith. Let our growing faith serve as a beacon of Your love and grace to those around us. In Jesus' name, Amen.
