He Chose You

Acts 17:24-25 (NET)
The God who made the world and everything in it, who is Lord of heaven and earth, does not live in temples made by human hands, nor is he served by human hands, as if he needed anything, because he himself gives life and breath and everything to everyone.

God is all-powerful, all-knowing, and self-sufficient. He created the universe and everything in it, and He sustains all life. He doesn’t need anything from us, yet in His grace and love, He chooses to involve us in His divine plan. This truth should humble us and inspire us, as it reveals the depth of God’s grace and the honor He bestows upon us by allowing us to participate in His work.

Throughout the Bible, we see examples of God choosing to work through people, even though He could accomplish His purposes without them. In the story of Jonah, God could have delivered His message to Nineveh in any number of ways, yet He chose Jonah to carry His word to the city. Despite Jonah’s reluctance and disobedience, God still used him to bring about one of the greatest revivals in history. Similarly, in the New Testament, Jesus chose twelve ordinary men to be His disciples and to carry His message to the world. These men were not chosen because of their qualifications or abilities, but because Jesus saw their potential to be vessels of His love and truth.

The most profound example of God choosing to use us is found in the Great Commission. Before ascending to heaven, Jesus commanded His disciples to go into all the world and preach the gospel. This mission is the foundation of the Christian faith, and it is a task that God could have accomplished without human involvement. Yet, He chose to entrust this vital mission to us. This shows that while God doesn’t need us, He values us and desires to work through us to reach others. This is a privilege and a responsibility that we must take seriously.

Understanding that God doesn’t need us, but chooses to use us, should lead us to a place of deep gratitude and surrender. It is not about our strength, wisdom, or resources, but about our willingness to be used by Him. When we recognize that our role in God’s plan is a gift of His grace, we can serve with humility and confidence, knowing that it is His power at work in us. Let us be faithful stewards of the opportunities God gives us, knowing that He can do mighty things through us when we surrender to His will.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for choosing to use us in Your divine plan, even though You don’t need us. We are humbled by Your grace and the honor of being part of Your work. Help us to surrender our lives to You, trusting in Your strength and wisdom. May we serve You faithfully, knowing that it is Your power working through us to accomplish Your purposes. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
