The Power of Personal Experience

Acts 4:20 (NIV)
“As for us, we cannot help speaking about what we have seen and heard.”

Our faith is not just a set of beliefs or doctrines—it is a personal experience of God’s transformative power. When we encounter God in a real way, it changes us deeply. This personal experience is what ignites a passion within us to share it with others. The apostles, who had walked with Jesus, couldn’t keep silent after witnessing His resurrection. Acts 4:20 reminds us that when we’ve seen and experienced the power of Christ firsthand, we cannot help but speak of it. What we’ve experienced personally is what we hold deeply, and this conviction fuels our desire to make Him known.

Too often, however, we keep quiet about our faith because we haven't truly experienced its fullness. When our relationship with God is distant or intellectual, it’s easier to remain silent. But the gospel is not meant to be an abstract theory; it’s meant to be lived out and experienced in our daily lives. When we allow God to invade our hearts, when we see His hand at work in our own story, it’s impossible to remain indifferent. Just like the disciples who went from fear to boldness after encountering the risen Christ, our lives are transformed when we experience God’s personal touch.

Consider the difference between knowing about a historical figure and meeting them in person. When we only have secondhand knowledge of someone, it’s easy to remain detached. But when we meet someone face to face, everything changes—we remember their voice, their presence, their impact. The same is true of God. If we only know Him through stories or teachings but haven’t had our own personal encounter, our faith can remain shallow. But when we experience His grace, mercy, and love firsthand, our faith becomes unshakable. We become witnesses, eager to share the life-changing power of God with others.

Prayer:
Lord, I ask for a deeper personal experience with You. Let my faith be rooted not just in knowledge but in the real and personal encounters I have with You each day. May my life be a living testimony of Your power and goodness, and may I boldly share what I have seen and heard. Use my story to inspire others to know You deeply and personally. Amen.
