Life After the Fall

Acts 20:9-10 (NIV)
“… he fell down from the third story and was taken up dead. But Paul went down, fell on him, and embracing him said, ‘Do not trouble yourselves, for his life is in him.’”

The story of Eutychus, a young man who fell from a third-story window during Paul’s late-night sermon, is a powerful reminder that no fall is beyond God’s power to restore. Eutychus fell asleep and tumbled out of the window, and those around him believed he was dead. But Paul, filled with faith, embraced him and declared that “there is life in him.” In the same way, when we fall—spiritually, emotionally, or physically—God sees the life that still remains in us.

Many times, the world is quick to declare us finished when we fall. We may even feel like we are beyond hope, too broken to be restored. But God has the final word, and His word is life. Just as Paul declared life over Eutychus, God speaks life over you, even when your circumstances look like death. When the world sees a fall, God sees a future. When others think it’s over, God sees the potential for a new beginning.

This story reminds us that no fall is too great for God’s grace. You may have stumbled, made mistakes, or even feel spiritually lifeless, but there is still life in you. God is not done with you yet. Embrace His restoring power and trust that He will lift you up, breathe new life into your circumstances, and set you back on the path He has for you.

Prayer:
Lord, thank You for always seeing life in us, even when we feel like we've fallen beyond repair. Help us to trust in Your ability to restore and revive us. When we feel lifeless, remind us that Your grace brings life, and that You’re never done with us. In Jesus' name, Amen.
