Righteous in Christ

Romans 5:21 (ESV):
“… so that, as sin reigned in death, grace also might reign through righteousness leading to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

Our righteousness does not come from our own efforts or perfection—it is a gift of God’s grace through Jesus Christ. Romans 5:21 reminds us that where sin once reigned, grace now rules through the righteousness of Christ. This righteousness allows us to leave our past behind, no longer defined by our failures, but by the grace that has redeemed us. In Christ, we are made new, and the power of sin no longer holds sway over our lives.

Many believers struggle with guilt and shame over past mistakes, believing that their failures disqualify them from God’s love. But the truth is that when we are in Christ, we are covered by His righteousness. Our past sins and failures are washed away by His blood, and we are set free to live in the fullness of His grace. This is not a license to keep sinning but an invitation to walk in the freedom and victory that Christ has won for us.

In Christ, we are no longer slaves to sin but slaves to righteousness. This means that even when we fall, we are not bound by the power of our mistakes. Instead, we are empowered by the grace of God to get back up, knowing that His righteousness reigns in us. Our failures no longer define us; His grace does. Let us live in the light of this truth, walking confidently in the righteousness of Christ.

Prayer:
Lord, thank You for making us righteous through Jesus Christ. Help us to walk in the freedom of Your grace, leaving behind our past and embracing the new life You’ve given us. Strengthen us to live in the righteousness You’ve provided, trusting in Your grace every step of the way. In Jesus' name, Amen.
