Power = Authority
Luke 10:19 (ESV)
“Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you.”
The authority that Jesus has given us as believers is a powerful tool to overcome fear and defeat the enemy. When we understand the authority we have in Christ, fear loses its grip on us. Jesus wasn’t afraid of anything because He knew who He was and the authority He possessed. In the same way, when we walk in our God-given authority, fear has no place in our hearts. We have been given power over every scheme of the enemy, and nothing can harm us as long as we stand firm in Christ’s authority.
Too often, fear creeps in because we forget who we are in Christ. We focus on our human limitations rather than on the power that comes from being children of God. The Bible tells us that greater is He who is in us than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4). This truth should fill us with boldness and confidence, knowing that God’s power is working within us. Jesus has given us the authority to declare His will, overcome spiritual attacks, and walk in victory over sin and fear. The key to operating in that authority is faith.
When we walk in the authority of Christ, fear cannot dominate us. We speak to our mountains, and they move because we stand in the confidence that comes from God. This authority is not something we earn but something we receive by faith. Fear is a sign that we are not fully embracing the power and authority we have been given. As we grow in our understanding of who we are in Christ, fear will fade, and we will walk in the fullness of the power He has provided.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for the authority You have given me through Jesus Christ. Help me to walk boldly in that authority, unafraid of the enemy’s schemes. Remind me that Your power is greater than any fear I may face. Strengthen my faith so that I may stand firm in Your promises and walk in victory. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
