When it Wasn't on the List

Jeremiah 29:11
"For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

Life often surprises us with twists and turns we never anticipated. Like Joseph, who was building a future with Mary, only to discover she was pregnant by the Holy Spirit, we may find our carefully laid plans interrupted. Joseph’s dreams of a quiet, simple life were upended, but in the disruption, God revealed a greater purpose. When our plans falter, we have a choice: to trust in our limited perspective or to lean into God’s infinite wisdom.

Interruptions in life are often divine invitations. Joseph could have chosen to walk away, but his obedience allowed him to father the Savior of the world. Sometimes, God’s invitations come disguised as inconveniences—unexpected challenges, detours, or even heartbreaks. Yet, these interruptions are opportunities to see the extraordinary through the ordinary. Joseph’s story reminds us that when God rewrites the plans, it’s always for something greater than we could imagine.

When life doesn’t match the list, it’s a call to surrender our desires and trust God’s plan. His perspective transcends time, weaving the past, present, and future into a masterpiece. As Isaiah 55:8-9 reminds us, “My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. Let’s hold onto the promise that His plans are always good, even when we can’t see the full picture.

Prayer:
Lord, help me trust Your plans when life takes an unexpected turn. Remind me that Your interruptions are divine invitations, leading me closer to Your purpose. Teach me to surrender my plans to You and to embrace the journey You’ve prepared. Thank You for always working for my good and Your glory. Amen.
