When God's Timing Doesn't Align With Ours

Ecclesiastes 3:11 (NIV)
"He has made everything beautiful in its time."

We often want things to happen on our timeline—whether it’s a new job, a relationship, or the vision God has placed in our hearts. But God's timing rarely matches our own, and it can be frustrating when we feel ready for something, yet God seems to delay. In 1 Kings 12:6-11, Rehoboam's decision to seek the wrong counsel could have been avoided if he had waited and trusted in God’s timing. Much like how my own church planting journey was delayed in 2018 when the leadership said "no," waiting for God’s timing made all the difference. At the time, I was eager, but God's delay allowed for greater blessings and alignment with His plan.

Patience is a crucial part of the process. Ecclesiastes 3:11 reminds us that "He has made everything beautiful in its time." What may seem like a delay to us is actually God preparing us, refining our hearts, and aligning the circumstances for the future He has in store. When we rush ahead of God, we miss the beauty of His perfect timing and risk making decisions that don't align with His will. Rehoboam’s decision to ignore godly counsel and move in haste led to a broken kingdom. Sometimes, waiting for God's timing can feel like a test of faith, but it's in the waiting that we learn to trust Him more deeply.

In moments of impatience, we must remember that God is never late. His timing is always perfect, and the process is just as important as the destination. Trusting in God’s timing means letting go of our need for control and embracing His plan for our lives. As we wait, let’s pray for patience and trust that God is working behind the scenes, preparing us for what’s to come.

Prayer:
Lord, thank You for Your perfect timing in our lives. Help us to trust You when we feel impatient or when things don’t happen as quickly as we want. Teach us to embrace the waiting, knowing that You are preparing us for something greater. Give us patience as we trust in Your timing and Your plan for our lives. Amen.
