Can You Hear Me Now?

Job 33:14 (NLT)
"For God speaks again and again, though people do not recognize it."

God is always speaking, but sometimes we don’t recognize His voice. In our busy lives, with constant distractions and noise, it’s easy to miss the ways in which God is trying to speak to us. Job 33:14 reminds us that God speaks repeatedly, yet many of us fail to recognize His voice in the midst of our circumstances. Whether it’s through His Word, the Holy Spirit, or even life events, God is constantly communicating with us, but we often overlook or misunderstand His messages.

One of the reasons we miss God's voice is because we tend to expect Him to speak in the way we imagine, in the way that fits our preferences. We might expect a booming voice from heaven or an immediate solution to our problems, but often, God speaks in quieter, subtler ways. Sometimes, it's through a closed door, a moment of frustration, or even a relationship that challenges us. Just as God spoke to Paul through circumstances in Acts 16, He often speaks to us through the very things we might try to avoid or resist.

The key to recognizing God’s voice is in developing a relationship with Him. The better you know God, the more easily you will recognize His leading in your life. Just like a close friend’s voice stands out in a crowd, God’s voice becomes clearer the more time you spend with Him. When we stay rooted in His Word and remain open to hearing from Him, we begin to recognize the gentle whisper of His direction in every area of our lives.

If you feel like you haven’t been hearing from God lately, don’t be discouraged. It’s not that He’s stopped speaking—it’s likely that we’ve become distracted or unaware. Take time today to quiet your heart and listen closely. God’s voice may be more present than you think; it may just require a shift in focus to recognize it.

Prayer:
Father, thank You for constantly speaking to me, even when I don’t recognize Your voice. Help me to quiet the distractions in my life and become more attuned to Your presence and guidance. Open my heart to hear You clearly in every circumstance. Teach me to recognize Your voice, so that I can walk in Your perfect will. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
