God's Inconvenient Interruptions
John 4:35 (NLV)
“Look around. The fields are already ripe for harvest.”
Jesus didn’t tell His disciples to wait for the harvest—He told them to wake up and look around. The urgency wasn’t in the season, it was in their awareness. The people were ready. The need was present. But it would take someone willing to be interrupted to make a difference.
In Luke 10, the Good Samaritan saw the man on the side of the road and stopped. The priest and Levite passed by—too busy, too preoccupied, maybe even too “spiritual” to help. But the Samaritan let love interrupt his plans. He stopped, helped, paid, and promised to return. That’s what love does—it messes up your schedule for the sake of someone else’s healing.
The friends in Mark 2 didn’t plan to tear through a roof that day. But their love was greater than their convenience. They saw the need and said, “We’ll figure the rest out later.” That’s what ministry looks like—being willing to get uncomfortable, be delayed, and look foolish if it means someone gets to Jesus.
We live in a culture that glorifies hustle, busy calendars, and personal boundaries. But the Kingdom of God is built on people who say, “If this is what it takes to save a soul, I’m all in—even if it costs me my time.”
Prayer:
Lord, help me see what I usually overlook. Wake me up to the needs around me. Teach me to hold my schedule with open hands, and help me to love in a way that disrupts my comfort. Use me, even if it means being inconvenienced. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
