A Miracle in Persistence

Mark 2:5 (NIV)
“When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralyzed man, ‘Son, your sins are forgiven.’”

Faith doesn’t stop at obstacles—it climbs rooftops, digs through ceilings, and lowers broken people to the feet of Jesus. The four friends in Mark 2 could’ve turned around when the house was full. They could’ve said, “We tried.” But real faith doesn’t settle. Real love doesn’t quit. These men didn’t just carry their friend—they fought for him. And that fight became the very thing that caught Jesus’ attention.

That same spirit lived in Moses, when he stood between God and the Israelites in Exodus 32. Though the people had rebelled, Moses didn’t give up. He interceded, pleaded, and stood in the gap until God relented. Sometimes the miracle doesn’t come from the person in need—it comes from the one who refuses to give up on them.

Maybe there’s someone in your life who’s drifted far from God. Maybe you’ve prayed, invited, cried, and nothing’s changed. But what if you’re just one roof away from a breakthrough? What if the next prayer, the next invite, the next tear is the one that opens the heavens? The extra mile may not be glamorous, but it’s where the power is.

Don’t stop short. Don’t give up. Don’t grow weary in doing good. The miracle may be closer than you think.

Prayer:

God, help me go the extra mile. Give me grit in my prayers, passion in my faith, and endurance to keep fighting for the people You’ve placed on my heart. Teach me to intercede like Moses and carry like the friends in Mark 2. Let my faith stand in the gap when others can’t stand at all. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
