He Waited Two More Days
Romans 8:28
"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose."
Have you ever wondered why God allows certain difficulties in your life? Why does He let us face challenges that seem insurmountable? The answer may not always be clear, but the Bible gives us a powerful reminder: God allows things to happen so that we can believe.
Romans 8:28 reminds us that God works all things for good, even the hard, painful experiences we go through. We often look at our struggles as obstacles or setbacks, but God uses these very moments to build our faith. It’s in our hardest times that we can experience the depth of His love, His power, and His faithfulness.
Think of the story of Lazarus in John 11. When Jesus heard that Lazarus was sick, He didn’t rush to his side. In fact, He stayed where He was for two more days, allowing Lazarus to die. The disciples were confused, and Mary and Martha were disappointed. Yet, when Jesus arrived, He showed them something far greater than they had expected. Lazarus was raised from the dead, and through that moment, their faith was deepened. Jesus knew that allowing this situation to unfold would strengthen their belief in Him, showing them that He is the resurrection and the life.
Sometimes, we too must face death in our lives—whether it’s the death of a dream, a relationship, or a hope—before we can experience the resurrection power of God. God allows these moments so that we can see His glory and believe in His ability to turn impossible situations around. What might seem like a setback is often a set-up for God to do something incredible in our lives.
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for the trials that stretch our faith and for the moments when we can see Your hand at work in our lives. Help us to trust You even when we don’t understand why things are happening. May we grow in our belief and always remember that You work all things for good. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
