You Exist To Glorify Him

1 Corinthians 10:31 (NIV)
So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.

One of the most dangerous distortions of our faith is when we flip the script and make it all about us. We treat God like a cosmic vending machine: if we press the right buttons—prayer, church, obedience—He should dispense the results we want. But God doesn’t exist to serve our desires. We exist to glorify Him. That one shift in perspective can realign your entire life.

When we make ourselves the center of the gospel, disappointment is inevitable. Because the moment life doesn’t go how we planned, we question God’s goodness. But when God is the center—when glorifying Him is our aim—every circumstance becomes an opportunity to lift Him higher. Your wins point to His faithfulness. Your losses point to His sustaining grace. Your trials become testimony. Your obedience, even in obscurity, becomes worship.

Jesus modeled this perfectly. Hebrews 12:2 tells us that “for the joy set before Him, He endured the cross.” He didn’t chase comfort—He chose pain so that His life would glorify the Father and bring salvation to us. If our Savior carried a cross for the sake of glory, why would we expect a life free from challenge? Your calling is not ease. Your calling is worship. And worship doesn’t just happen with a song—it happens with your surrender.

Prayer:
Father, forgive me for making my life all about me. Remind me daily that I exist to glorify You. Help me lift Your name in my decisions, in my discomfort, and in my joy. May everything I do point to You—especially when it’s hard.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Action Step:
Today, before making any big or small decision, pause and ask: “Will this glorify God?” Whether it’s how you speak to someone, how you spend your time, or how you react—choose what brings Him honor, even if it costs you comfort.
