Hidden Source, Visible Flow
John 7:38
“Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.”
You can’t always see where a spring begins. You can’t trace the path of underground rivers with the naked eye. But you can always see the flow. That’s what makes a spring so unique — its source is hidden, but its impact is unmistakable. Jesus said that those who believe in Him would have rivers of living water flowing from within. Not around them. Not beside them. From within. That means the most powerful evidence of your relationship with God isn’t what people see you doing. It’s what flows out of you when no one else is watching.
The Holy Spirit works in the hidden places. In the quiet mornings before anyone else wakes up. In the car when you’re choosing worship instead of worry. In the moments when you say no to something tempting and yes to something holy. That’s where the flow is formed. But even though the source is secret, the results are public. If you’re truly being filled in private, it will eventually overflow into your parenting, your patience, your speech, and your presence.
You don’t need to announce your faith. Just let it flow. When you’re connected to the Spirit, what flows out of you will speak louder than anything you post, wear, or quote. The people around you will notice. And if the flow has started to feel weak or inconsistent, don’t panic. Go back to the source. You’re not meant to manufacture rivers. You’re called to stay connected to the One who causes them to flow.
Prayer:
Holy Spirit, thank You for working in the hidden places. Thank You for filling me in ways others may never see. Let what You’re doing privately become evident through how I live, love, and serve. Help me stay connected to You today so that Your life will flow through me naturally and powerfully. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
