DNA of the NEXT GEN

Matthew 19:14
Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”

Every generation is a link in the chain of God’s redemptive story. If one link is weak, the chain can break. Jesus didn’t just tolerate children in His presence — He championed them. He welcomed them when others tried to push them aside. In the same way, the next generation is not an afterthought in the Kingdom; they are central to it. The faith we carry today must be intentionally passed on, because if we fail to invest in those coming after us, the mission will stall in our hands.

Hebrews 12:1 paints the picture of a race where a baton is passed from one runner to the next. Our faith is that baton. Parents are called to be the primary disciplers of their children, while the church comes alongside as reinforcement, encouragement, and spiritual family. This is not a sideline ministry — it is the continuation of the mission Jesus started. Healthy DNA replicates itself, and if the life of Christ is truly in us, it will be seen in how we shape the next generation to know Him deeply and live for Him boldly.

Think of it this way: if your personal faith stopped with you, what legacy would be left behind? Our responsibility is to run our leg of the race with endurance, to live in such a way that when we pass the baton, the next runner is ready to accelerate, not stumble. The next generation is not just the church of tomorrow — they are the church of today, and our role is to prepare and empower them for both.

Prayer
Lord, give us eyes to see the potential in the next generation and the courage to invest in them with all we have. Help us to run faithfully so the faith we pass is vibrant, pure, and unshakable. May our children’s children know You and make You known. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
