God is My Source
2 Corinthians 9:8 NKJV
And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.
In the 1800s, a pastor named George Müller became known throughout Bristol, England, for caring for thousands of orphaned children through radical trust in God. Over his lifetime, Müller helped care for more than 10,000 orphans and established homes that housed over 2,000 children at one time. What made his ministry remarkable was that he refused to ask people directly for financial support. He believed that if God truly called him to care for those children, then God Himself would provide.
One famous story tells of a morning when there was no food left for breakfast. No bread. No milk. Nothing. Yet Müller still gathered the children around the table and thanked God for the meal they had not yet received. Moments later, a baker knocked at the door saying he had felt burdened during the night to bake bread for the orphanage. Shortly afterward, a milk cart broke down outside the orphanage, and the driver offered the milk to the children before it spoiled.
George Müller was not irresponsible. He worked hard, led faithfully, and managed wisely. But his confidence rested in God rather than earthly security. That is the heart of Kingdom living. Provision flows differently when God becomes your source. The world says peace comes from what you can store up. The Kingdom says peace comes from knowing who holds your future.
Many believers say God is their provider, but panic still controls their decisions. Jesus is inviting us into a deeper trust. A trust that believes God sees us, knows our needs, and is faithful even when circumstances look uncertain. The Father who feeds ravens and clothes lilies has not forgotten His children.
Prayer:
Father, teach me to trust You as my source. When fear and uncertainty rise up, remind me that You are faithful. Help me live with confidence in Your provision instead of panic over my circumstances. Strengthen my faith to believe that You will take care of what concerns me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
