The Counselor
John 16:13
“When He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth.”
We live in a world filled with competing voices. Every day we are bombarded with opinions, philosophies, advice, and endless streams of information. Everyone claims to know the right path forward. Yet information and wisdom are not the same thing.
One of the ministries of the Holy Spirit is guidance. Jesus called Him the Spirit of Truth because He leads believers according to God’s truth. The Holy Spirit never contradicts Scripture. He never leads us away from God’s will. He faithfully guides us into the truth revealed in God’s Word.
The challenge is that many of us are listening to everything except the Holy Spirit. We consult social media before we consult Scripture. We seek the opinions of others before seeking God’s wisdom. Like Judah in Isaiah’s day, we often look everywhere except God for direction.
The Holy Spirit still leads believers today. He does so through God’s Word, through prayer, through conviction, and through the peace that comes from walking in obedience. While He may not always reveal every detail of the future, He faithfully provides enough light for the next step.
If you need direction today, begin by asking the Holy Spirit for wisdom. Then open God’s Word and listen carefully. The One who knows the end from the beginning is fully capable of guiding your next step.
Prayer:
Holy Spirit, thank You for being my Counselor and Guide. Help me recognize Your voice above all the competing voices around me. Lead me according to Your truth and Your will today. Amen.
