THE GOSPEL MUST BE HEARD

How are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? Romans 10:14

DEVOTIONAL
Our actions matter. Kindness, integrity, compassion, and love can demonstrate that Jesus has changed us. But our actions alone cannot fully explain the gospel.

At some point, words are necessary.

A person may see that you live differently, but they still need to know why. They need to hear that Jesus is the Son of God, that He died for our sins, that He rose from the dead, and that forgiveness and new life are available through faith in Him. Our lives can make people curious about Jesus, but our words must tell them who He is.

Paul's question in Romans 10 is both logical and challenging. How can people call upon Jesus if they do not believe? How can they believe if they have never heard? How can they hear unless someone is willing to tell them?

God has chosen to place the message of the gospel into the mouths of ordinary believers.

We carry a message that can change someone's eternity, yet fear can convince us to remain silent. We worry about rejection, awkwardness, or being asked a question we cannot answer.

You can be honest when you do not know an answer. Saying, "I don't know, but I would love to explore that with you," is not a failure. It demonstrates humility. You are not required to defend every aspect of Christianity in one conversation. You are called to faithfully point people toward Jesus.

Sharing the gospel should never become an argument we are trying to win. The person in front of us is not an opponent. They are someone God loves. Our goal is not to prove our intelligence or force a decision. Our goal is to lovingly and clearly introduce them to Jesus.

The gospel is good news. We do not share it with anger, superiority, or condemnation. We share it with gratitude because we have received the same grace we are offering to someone else.

REFLECT
- Have I relied upon my actions as an excuse to avoid speaking about Jesus?
- What am I most afraid might happen if I share my faith?
- Can I clearly explain the basic message of the gospel?

TODAY'S STEP
Practice explaining the gospel in a few simple sentences. Ask God to give you an opportunity to share those words with love and clarity.

PRAYER
Father, thank You for entrusting me with the good news of Jesus. Forgive me for the times fear has kept me silent. Fill me with compassion rather than pressure, and give me the words to speak with clarity, humility, and love. May someone hear about Jesus because I was willing to tell them. Amen.
