Witnesses
Matthew 7:1-2 (ESV)
"Judge not, that you be not judged. For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you."
Our role in the spiritual courtroom is not to judge or prosecute but to witness. As witnesses, we are called to testify to the goodness and faithfulness of God, sharing our experiences of His love and grace. This role requires us to step down from the position of judge, relinquishing any desire to condemn others, and instead take up the mantle of love, pointing others to the saving power of Jesus Christ.
Judgment often stems from pride, a desire to elevate ourselves by looking down on others. But Jesus reminds us that the measure we use to judge others will be used against us. This should humble us and remind us that we are all in need of God’s grace. Our testimony is not about our righteousness but about God’s mercy and forgiveness. We overcome not by our own efforts but by the blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony.
To be effective witnesses, we must focus on loving others as Christ has loved us. Our testimony is powerful when it is rooted in love and humility. When we share how God has worked in our lives, we invite others to experience His grace for themselves. This is how we fulfill our role as witnesses, not by condemning, but by testifying to the transformative power of God’s love.
Prayer:
Lord, help us to be faithful witnesses of Your grace and love. Give us the courage to share our testimony and the humility to love others as You have loved us. May our words and actions point others to You, the true Judge and Savior. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
