Victory Comes in Daily Steps
Luke 2:10-11
Then the angel said to them, ‘Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.
On Christmas Eve, the anticipation of Jesus’ birth reminds us of the faithful steps that led to this moment. The shepherds, unaware that their lives were about to change, went about their ordinary tasks. It was in their faithfulness to the everyday that the extraordinary happened: angels appeared with the greatest announcement the world had ever heard. God brought the miracle of salvation into the world through a night like any other, showing us that our daily steps of faith can lead to divine encounters.
We often yearn for the “big moments,” the miraculous breakthroughs that affirm God’s presence in our lives. Yet, it is in the ordinary and the unnoticed days that God works most powerfully. Just as Mary and Joseph faithfully obeyed God’s instructions to travel to Bethlehem, even in difficult circumstances, we are called to walk each day with trust and obedience. The steps may seem small, but they are part of the journey toward God’s extraordinary purposes.
This Christmas Eve, reflect on the daily steps you’ve taken in faith this year. Each one has brought you closer to what God is preparing for you. Like the shepherds, be open to the unexpected ways God may reveal His glory. Whether it’s through a quiet moment of prayer or an act of obedience, your faithfulness in the ordinary is leading to something extraordinary.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for the reminder that You work through the ordinary days of our lives. On this Christmas Eve, help me to remain faithful in the small steps and attentive to Your voice. Prepare my heart to celebrate the gift of Your Son and to walk daily in the joy and peace He brings. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
