Run the Race
Hebrews 12:1–2
Let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus.
The Christian life is not a sprint—it’s a marathon. Endurance is what separates momentary excitement from lifelong faith. For those overcoming addiction, endurance looks like waking up each day and choosing freedom again. For all of us, it looks like pressing forward when life feels heavy, when temptation whispers, or when weariness sets in.
What gives us strength to endure isn’t our willpower—it’s our focus. Hebrews tells us to fix our eyes on Jesus. If we stare at the weight we’re carrying, we’ll grow discouraged. If we compare our race to someone else’s, we’ll get distracted. But when we keep our eyes on Christ, we find the strength to keep moving, one step at a time.
Endurance isn’t glamorous. It’s built in the daily decisions, the quiet prayers, and the unseen moments of faithfulness. But endurance produces something beautiful: maturity, depth, and unshakable hope. You may stumble, but endurance means you get back up and keep running.
Prayer:
Lord, strengthen us to run with endurance. When we are tempted to give up, remind us that You are worth every step. Fix our eyes on Jesus, and help us to press on with faith, knowing that the finish line holds the promise of eternal joy with You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
