Don't Just Gather, Assemble

Hebrews 10:24–25 (NKJV)
And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.

Have you ever gotten a gift that said on the box: “Some assembly required”? You know how frustrating it can be. The parts are all there, but until they’re put together, it doesn’t work the way it was designed. Church is the same way. God hasn’t called us just to gather in a room; He has called us to assemble into something with purpose.

The difference is intentionality. Gathering is being in the same place. Assembling is being fitted into the right place. Gathering is puzzle pieces scattered across a table. Assembling is when those pieces connect to reveal the picture. When we assemble, love is stirred up, good works overflow, and the world sees Jesus more clearly through His body.

Too many believers think of church as something to attend, but in God’s eyes, church is who we become when we take our place. It’s your time, my gifts, her service, his generosity — all fitting together. That’s when the body of Christ is alive.

Prayer
Lord, help me not to just attend but to assemble into what You are building. Put me in the right place, and use my life to stir up love and good works. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
