The Fire of Community
Hebrews 10:24
And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.
Community is meant to fuel faith. When we gather with other believers, we find the encouragement and accountability we need to keep pressing forward. Faith grows stronger when it is shared, and love deepens when it is lived out with others. That is why Scripture calls us to spur one another on—not just to keep ourselves strong, but to actively strengthen those around us.
Think about a team running together in a race. One runner might be tempted to slow down, but the sight of teammates pushing ahead inspires them to dig deeper. The sound of cheering fans along the course reminds them they are not alone. Community works the same way. When we see others chasing after Jesus with passion, it stirs something inside us to keep going.
We all need people who push us closer to God, who remind us of His promises when we are weary, and who celebrate with us when we see His faithfulness at work. A healthy community creates an atmosphere where love is evident and good deeds flow naturally. Faith is strengthened, not in isolation, but in the encouragement of others who walk alongside us.
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for the gift of people who encourage and challenge us. Surround us with friends who push us closer to You and remind us to live out our faith in love and action. Help us to be that same encouragement to others so that together we reflect Your goodness to the world. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
