When Comfort Kills

Revelation 3:2
Wake up and strengthen what remains and is about to die, for I have found your deeds unfinished in the sight of my God.

Sardis was secure, comfortable, and untouched by persecution. The lack of opposition made it seem like everything was peaceful, but that peace was deceptive. The absence of pressure had created an absence of power. They had grown too comfortable, and comfort always dulls conviction. The enemy knew there was no need to attack a church that was already asleep.

The same danger still exists today. When our lives get too easy, our hearts can grow cold. We stop depending on God. We stop praying with passion. We stop reaching for what once required faith. Comfort becomes a quiet killer. It does not come with a storm; it comes with a yawn. Jesus was calling the church to wake up, to strengthen what was left before it faded completely.

God does not expose weakness to shame us but to save us. If there is still a flicker of faith in you, that means God is not finished with you. He is ready to breathe on what remains. Sometimes He shakes us not because He is angry, but because He loves us too much to let us stay asleep.

Prayer:
Jesus, wake me up from spiritual comfort. Do not let my ease become my downfall. Stir my heart with conviction again and strengthen what remains in me until I am burning with Your presence once more. Amen.
