Your Name is Written
Revelation 3:5
The one who is victorious will, like them, be dressed in white. I will never blot out the name of that person from the book of life but will acknowledge that name before My Father and His angels.
In the cities of the ancient world, each citizen’s name was recorded in a civic register. If someone committed treason or brought shame to the city, their name was erased. Losing your name meant losing your identity and your rights as a citizen. Jesus used that same imagery to make an eternal promise. He said that those who overcome will never have their names blotted out of the Book of Life. The record of heaven is secure.
Our names are not written in the Book of Life because of performance but because of relationship. We are citizens of heaven not by merit but by mercy. What grace it is to know that our names are written in a book that cannot be erased. When the enemy accuses and shame tries to rewrite your story, Jesus points to the record sealed by His blood and says, “That one belongs to Me.”
One day, your name will be spoken before the Father, not because you lived perfectly, but because you lived faithfully. You will not stand there alone. You will be acknowledged by the One who died for you, redeemed you, and wrote your name where it will never fade.
Prayer:
Father, thank You that my name is written in Your book and that it cannot be erased. Keep me faithful until the end. Help me live with confidence in Your promise and joy in Your presence. Amen.
