Rest Renews Strength
Isaiah 40:31 (NIV)
But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
There is a connection between rest and strength. When we learn to rest in the Lord, He renews us from the inside out. The world tells us to push harder, work longer, and never stop moving. But the Kingdom operates differently. God doesn’t reward endless striving; He restores surrendered hearts. Renewal happens when we stop relying on our own energy and begin depending on His Spirit.
Isaiah reminds us that those who place their hope in the Lord will find strength that doesn’t fade. The eagle doesn’t fight the wind—it rides it. In the same way, those who rest in God don’t fight for control; they trust His direction. To wait on the Lord is not to sit idle but to posture our hearts in expectation. We find new strength when we learn that renewal comes through reliance, not resistance.
Many believers are spiritually tired because they’ve confused motion with progress. God doesn’t ask us to do more; He asks us to trust more. True rest is not a pause from productivity but a realignment with purpose. It’s the reminder that He is the source of your endurance and the reason you can keep going. When you rest in Him, you’re not losing momentum—you’re gaining power.
Prayer:
Lord, renew my strength as I rest in You. When I am weary, remind me that You are my source of life and energy. Teach me to trust Your timing and Your pace. Help me to wait on You with hope, knowing that You are faithful to restore what I’ve poured out. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
