The Church

Revelation 3:8
I know your deeds. See, I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut.

The letter to the church in Philadelphia ends without correction, only commendation. Jesus looks at this faithful church and says, “You have kept my word, you have not denied my name, and I have placed an open door before you.” It was a church on mission, not distracted by comfort or discouraged by opposition. Their faithfulness made them usable. God could trust them to carry His message beyond their walls.

Every church faces a choice: to settle into maintenance or to move into mission. The church in Philadelphia chose mission. They walked through the doors God opened, even when it required courage and sacrifice. That is the kind of church Jesus blesses, a church that loves people, carries His name with boldness, and uses every opportunity to make Him known.

The same invitation stands before us. God has opened doors for Restoration Church, doors to reach our city, doors to serve our neighbors, doors to send the gospel beyond our own walls. The question is not whether the door is open, but whether we will walk through it.

A faithful church is a moving church. God does not open doors for us to stand and admire them. He opens them so that His kingdom can advance through us. May we be a people who see every opportunity as a mission field and every open door as an invitation to obedience.

Prayer:
Lord, make us a church that walks through every door You open. Give us courage to carry Your name, compassion to reach people, and faith to believe that no one can close what You have set before us. Let everything we do bring glory to You and expand Your kingdom. Amen.
