Seed in the Ground, Not in the Bag
2 Corinthians 9:10 (NKJV)
Now may He who supplies seed to the sower, and bread for food, supply and multiply the seed you have sown…
God doesn’t give seed to the keeper. He gives seed to the sower. That means God supplies more to the people who actually plant what He gives them. Too many believers live with a “bag mindset,” holding on tightly to everything they have, terrified that if they release anything, they’ll run out. But the irony is that nothing grows inside the bag. Seed only multiplies once it hits the soil. God never intended for blessings to be stored away in fear; He intended them to be planted in faith.
Think about it: a farmer doesn’t panic when he lets go of his seed. He doesn’t clutch it, protect it, or hide it. He understands that seed is meant for sowing. In the hands of a farmer, seed is potential. But in the ground, seed becomes a harvest. Many Christians pray for a harvest but never plant anything. They want God to multiply what they’ve never released. They want breakthrough without obedience. But God says multiplication starts with sowing, not storing.
And here’s the beautiful part, God is the One who supplies the seed and the increase. You’re not responsible for creating abundance; you’re responsible for planting obedience. When you give, when you serve, when you invest in the Kingdom, you’re placing seed in God’s hands. And God never fails to bring a harvest in His timing and His way. Often the miracle is not just what He provides but who you become in the process—a person who trusts Him more deeply and gives more freely.
Today, inspect your “bag.” Ask yourself: what seed is God asking me to plant? What have I been holding onto that was meant to be released? God is not trying to take something from you, He’s trying to get something through you. Sow boldly. Sow joyfully. Sow in faith. Seed in the bag stays seed. Seed in the ground becomes harvest.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for supplying seed for me to sow. Help me recognize what You’ve placed in my hands and give me the faith to plant it. Free me from fear and scarcity. Teach me to trust You with every seed I release, knowing You are faithful to multiply it for Your purpose and glory. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
