Strength Comes from Dependancy
Isaiah 40:31
“But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength…”
By now, the fast is no longer theoretical. Hunger is real. Discomfort is present. And this is where many people assume they are failing, when in reality, they are finally learning dependence. Scripture never promises renewed strength to those who push harder, but to those who wait on the Lord. Waiting is not weakness. Waiting is trust expressed through patience.
Fasting teaches us how much we rely on ourselves and how little we rely on God. When strength fades, prayer becomes more honest. When energy dips, dependence deepens. This is where spiritual renewal begins. God does not ask us to fast so we can prove endurance. He invites us to fast so we can learn reliance.
Renewal does not come from grit. It comes from surrender.
Reflection
Where have you been relying on your own strength instead of God’s?
What does it look like for you to wait on the Lord today instead of rushing ahead?
Prayer
God, I confess my tendency to rely on myself. Teach me to wait on You. Renew my strength as I place my trust fully in You. I choose dependence over control. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Today’s Action
When you feel weak or impatient today, pause and pray before responding or pushing forward.
