I'm Still Fine
Judges 16:20
“He woke up and thought, ‘I will do as before and shake myself free.’ But he did not know that the Lord had left him.”
One of the most sobering moments in Samson’s story is not his capture but his assumption. He believed nothing had changed. He expected yesterday’s strength to carry him through today’s compromise. The tragedy was not immediate weakness but spiritual unawareness.
Sometimes we mistake moments of blessing for approval. God may still work in our lives while He is calling us back to deeper obedience. His patience is mercy, not permission. Samson confused God’s grace with God’s endorsement, and eventually the gap between his calling and his choices caught up with him.
Spiritual numbness happens gradually. Convictions soften. Sensitivity fades. We stop noticing the distance forming between our hearts and God. Yet even in these moments, God is not abandoning us. He is inviting us to wake up spiritually before consequences deepen.
Ask God today for sensitivity. Awareness is a gift. Recognizing distance from God is not condemnation; it is the beginning of restoration.

Lord, keep my heart sensitive to Your Spirit. Help me never confuse Your patience with permission. Wake me up to anything that is pulling me away from You, and draw me back into closeness with You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
