The God Who Works Upstream
2 Corinthians 5:7
“For we live by faith, not by sight.”
When the priests stepped into the Jordan, something remarkable happened upstream. The waters stopped flowing at a city called Adam. What Israel could see was the river drying up before them. What they could not see was the unseen work happening miles away that made the miracle possible.
This reveals an important truth about God’s providence. Often the Lord is working in places we cannot see long before we experience the breakthrough. While we are praying, waiting, and wondering if anything is happening, God is already moving upstream in ways that will affect our future.
Faith requires trusting that God’s unseen work is just as real as what we can observe. The Christian life is built on confidence in God’s character even when visible evidence is absent. We walk by faith because we trust the One who guides our steps.
The Israelites stepped into the river not knowing that the miracle had already begun upstream. In the same way, God may already be arranging circumstances, preparing provision, and moving hearts in ways that will eventually impact our lives.
Our responsibility is not to control the miracle. Our responsibility is to trust the God who is already at work.
Prayer
Lord, thank You that You are always working even when I cannot see it. Help me trust that You are moving upstream in ways that will shape my future. Strengthen my faith to walk forward with confidence in Your promises. I place my life fully in Your hands. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
