Remember What God Has Done
Joshua 4:7
“These stones are to be a memorial to the people of Israel forever.”
God knows something about the human heart. We forget. We forget prayers that were answered. We forget the way God provided when there seemed to be no way. We forget the moments when He carried us through seasons we thought would break us. That is why God commanded Israel to build memorials. The stones were not for decoration. They were reminders.
When the children of Israel crossed the Jordan River, God told them to take stones from the middle of the river and stack them as a memorial. The purpose was simple: one day their children would ask, “What do these stones mean?” The memorial would become a story. It would be a reminder that the God who parted the waters once could do it again.
Our lives need memorials too. Moments when we pause and remember what God has done. A prayer answered. A door opened. A season of deliverance. These moments become anchors for our faith when life gets difficult again. When doubt creeps in, we can point to those stones and say, “God helped me there.”
When we remember God’s faithfulness in the past, it strengthens our faith for the future. The same God who brought you through before is the God who will bring you through again.
Prayer
Lord, help me never forget what You have done in my life. Teach me to remember Your faithfulness in every season. When I face new challenges, remind me of the times You have already carried me through. Strengthen my faith as I reflect on Your goodness. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
