Thus Far

1 Samuel 7:12
“Then Samuel took a stone and set it up… and called it Ebenezer, saying, ‘Thus far the Lord has helped us.’”

After years of defeat, Israel experienced a powerful victory when they returned to the Lord. As the Philistine army approached, God thundered from heaven and threw the enemy into confusion. The battle was won not by Israel’s strength but by God’s intervention.

When the battle ended, Samuel set up a stone and named it Ebenezer, which means “stone of help.” The stone stood as a declaration that their victory was the result of God’s faithfulness. It was not about their ability. It was about God’s help.

Ebenezer reminds us that every step forward in our lives is made possible by God’s grace. Every victory, every breakthrough, every answered prayer points back to the same truth: God helped us here.

When we pause to acknowledge God’s help, it changes the way we approach the future. If God has helped us this far, we can trust Him to lead us the rest of the way.

Prayer

Lord, thank You for being my help in every season of life. Remind me that every victory I experience comes from Your hand. Strengthen my trust in You as I continue the journey ahead. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
