Faithfulness in the Background
Exodus 1:17 (NIV)
“The midwives, however, feared God and did not do what the king of Egypt had told them to do…”
Most people have never heard the names Shiphrah and Puah. They were not kings, prophets, or leaders of nations. They were midwives. Their role was simple, ordinary, and unnoticed by most. Yet in one moment of obedience, they altered the course of history.
Pharaoh commanded them to kill every Hebrew baby boy. It would have been easier to comply. It would have been safer to stay quiet. But they chose to fear God more than they feared man. Because of their decision, a generation of children lived, including a baby named Moses who would one day deliver a nation.
This is how God often works. He uses people who are willing to be faithful in the background. Not everyone is called to be seen, but everyone is called to be obedient. The impact of your life is not measured by visibility but by faithfulness.
Today, do not underestimate the power of quiet obedience. You may not see the full picture, but God does. What feels small in your hands can become significant in His plan.
Prayer:
God, help me to be faithful in every area of my life, even when no one is watching. Give me courage to obey You above everything else. Use my obedience to make a difference beyond what I can see. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
