Poured Out
Luke 22:19 (NIV)
“And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them…”
It is Thursday. This was the night of the Last Supper. Jesus sat at the table with His disciples, knowing what was coming. He knew betrayal was in the room. He knew the cross was ahead. And still, He chose to serve, to give, and to pour Himself out.
He broke the bread and said, “This is my body.” He lifted the cup and said, “This is my blood.” Everything about that moment pointed to surrender. Jesus was not holding anything back. He was fully giving Himself for the sake of others.
This is the model of what it means to follow Him. To carry Christ is to live poured out. It is to choose purpose over comfort, obedience over convenience, and sacrifice over self. Jesus did not just tell us what to do. He showed us what it looks like.
Today, reflect on what it means to live a poured-out life. Where are you holding back? What would it look like to fully surrender to what God is asking of you? The table reminds us that following Jesus will cost something, but it will always be worth it.
Prayer:
Jesus, thank You for giving everything for me. Help me to live a life that is surrendered and poured out for Your purpose. Teach me to follow Your example in every area of my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
