The Silence Between
Matthew 27:59–60 (NIV)
“Joseph took the body, wrapped it in a clean linen cloth, and placed it in his own new tomb… and he rolled a big stone in front of the entrance to the tomb and went away.”
Saturday is the day in between. The cross has already happened, but the resurrection has not yet been seen. The miracle is coming, but no one knows it yet. It is the day of silence, the day where it feels like nothing is happening.
The disciples had watched Jesus die. Everything they believed in felt like it had collapsed. The promises, the miracles, the hope they had placed in Him now sat behind a sealed tomb. From their perspective, it was over. From heaven’s perspective, it was not finished.
We all experience Saturdays. Moments where God feels silent. Seasons where prayers seem unanswered. Times where it feels like what we believed for is buried and gone. But just because God is silent does not mean He is absent. Just because you cannot see movement does not mean He is not working.
Saturday teaches us how to trust God in the in-between. It is where faith is tested, where patience is formed, and where belief has to stand without visible evidence. The same God who was working on Sunday was still working on Saturday, even when no one could see it.
Today, if you find yourself in a waiting season, do not lose hope. What feels like the end may only be the middle. Stay faithful. Stay trusting. Sunday is coming.
Prayer:
God, help me trust You in the seasons where I cannot see what You are doing. Give me faith in the waiting and strength in the silence. I believe that You are still working, even when I don’t feel it. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
