Wheat and Chaff
Luke 3:17 (ESV)
“His winnowing fork is in his hand, to clear his threshing floor and to gather the wheat into his barn, but the chaff he will burn with unquenchable fire.”
The process of separating wheat from chaff involves movement, pressure, and exposure. The wheat is valuable. The chaff is not. But before separation, they exist together. It takes shaking and wind to reveal what has substance and what does not. In the same way, God uses seasons of pressure to separate what truly matters in our lives from what is surface-level.
We often want God to remove things instantly. But instead, He allows situations that expose what is in us. The attitudes, habits, fears, and even misplaced priorities begin to surface. Not to shame us, but to refine us. The goal is not destruction. It is clarity.
There are things we hold onto that were never meant to stay. Mindsets that limit us. Fears that control us. Patterns that keep us stuck. When God allows shaking, it is often because He is removing what would ultimately hold us back. What remains is stronger, deeper, and rooted.
Takeaway: If it can be blown away, it was never meant to stay.
