Letting Go of Control
Proverbs 16:9 (NIV)
“In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.”
We like to have a plan. We like to know what’s coming and how things will unfold. Planning is not the problem. The problem is when our peace becomes dependent on everything going according to our plan. That’s where control begins to take over.
Control often feels like security, but it actually creates stress. The more we try to control, the more we feel responsible for outcomes we were never meant to carry. God never asked us to control everything. He asked us to trust Him. There is a difference between being responsible and trying to be in charge.
Letting go of control doesn’t mean you stop caring. It means you stop carrying what belongs to God. It means you trust that even when things don’t go the way you expected, God is still working, still guiding, and still leading your steps.
Takeaway: Trust begins where control ends.
Prayer:
Father, help me release control and trust You with my life. When things don’t go as planned, remind me that You are still leading. Give me peace in knowing You are in charge. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
