Small isn't Insignificant
Matthew 13:32 (NKJV)
“…which indeed is the least of all the seeds; but when it is grown it is greater…”
We have a tendency to measure things too early.
We look at something in its beginning stage and decide what it is based on what we see right now. If it’s small, we assume it’s insignificant. If it’s slow, we assume it’s not working. If it’s unimpressive, we assume it’s not God. But Jesus completely flips that thinking when He points to a mustard seed.
Because what looks small in the moment can carry something massive in its potential.
Think about Jesus Himself. One man. One region. A handful of followers. No political influence, no military backing, no cultural dominance. If you were evaluating that movement in real time, you would’ve said it doesn’t stand a chance. And yet here we are. What started as a seed now spans generations, nations, and eternity.
I think about it like planting something in your yard. The day you put the seed in the ground, nothing looks different. You don’t see growth. You don’t see results. If anything, it looks like nothing is happening at all. But underneath the surface, something is developing. Roots are forming before anything ever breaks through.
And that’s where a lot of people quit. They walk away in the unseen stage. They stop praying. Stop believing. Stop investing. Because they don’t see anything yet. But the reality is, just because you can’t see it doesn’t mean God isn’t working.
You don’t need to fully understand the seed. You just need to stay faithful to it.
Prayer:
Father, help me stop judging what You are doing based on what I can see right now. Give me faith to trust the process, even in the unseen stages. Teach me to stay faithful with what You’ve placed in my life, knowing that You are working beneath the surface. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
