The Kingdom Gets in Everything
Matthew 13:33 (NKJV)
“Another parable He spoke to them: ‘The kingdom of heaven is like leaven, which a woman took and hid in three measures of meal till it was all leavened.’”
Jesus didn’t just say the Kingdom grows… He said it spreads.
Yeast doesn’t stay in one part of the dough. Once it’s in, it works its way through everything. You don’t get sections that are untouched. It affects the whole thing. That’s how the Kingdom is meant to function in your life.
But here’s where we push back.
We’re okay with God having some areas. We’ll give Him Sunday. We’ll give Him certain decisions. We’ll give Him parts of our life that feel comfortable. But we try to keep control over the rest. Our habits, our thoughts, our relationships, our priorities. We compartmentalize.
The problem is, the Kingdom doesn’t work like that.
It’s not something you can isolate. It’s not something you can manage. It either has authority, or it doesn’t. Because once it’s truly in you, it begins to change everything. And that’s what we’re often afraid of. Not that God won’t move… but that He will.
That’s why that Boudin Bakery story hits so hard. In 1849, a starter was created, and instead of starting over each time, they kept pulling from the same source. Through fires, earthquakes, generations… it never stopped. Every batch carried what came before it. It kept working, kept spreading, kept transforming everything it touched.
That’s the Kingdom.
What God starts in you isn’t meant to stay contained. It’s meant to carry. To grow. To move through every part of your life and beyond your life into others. You don’t get to control where it goes… you just have to decide if you’re going to let it fully in.
Because once it’s in… everything changes.
Prayer:
Father, I don’t want to give You parts of my life, I want to give You everything. Let Your Kingdom take full authority in me. Change what needs to change. Grow what needs to grow. Let my life reflect Your rule in every area. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
