Make Prayer Your First Response
Philippians 4:6-7 (NIV)
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God…”
For many of us, prayer has become our last resort instead of our first response. We analyze, research, stress, and try to fix things on our own, and only after exhausting ourselves do we turn to God. But the pattern of the Kingdom is different. Prayer is not the backup plan. It is the starting point.
When worry rises, it is an invitation. Not to panic, but to pray. Not to spiral, but to seek. God never intended for you to carry anxiety alone. He invites you into relationship, into conversation, into dependence. The peace of God is not something you manufacture. It is something you receive.
Paul wrote these words from prison, not comfort. That means peace is not tied to your circumstances. It is tied to your connection to God. When prayer becomes your first response, peace becomes your steady companion.
You don’t need a perfect prayer. You just need a willing heart. God is not waiting for polished words. He is waiting for you.
Prayer:
Father, forgive me for turning to everything else before I turn to You. Help me to make prayer my first response in every situation. Teach me to bring my worries to You with faith and thanksgiving, and fill my heart with Your peace. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
