Focus on the Goodness of God
Matthew 6:9 (NIV)
“Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name…”
Jesus begins prayer by focusing on who God is, not what we need. Before requests, before concerns, before anything else, He centers His attention on the goodness and holiness of God.
Worry grows when we magnify problems. Faith grows when we magnify God. When you start your prayer by acknowledging who He is, you shift your perspective. You remind your heart that the One you are talking to is not limited, not confused, and not overwhelmed. He is in control.
Too often, we rush into prayer with a list. But Jesus shows us a better way. Slow down. Look up. Refocus. When God is in His rightful place in your mind, everything else begins to fall into its proper place.
You are not talking to a distant force. You are talking to your Father. And He already knows how the story ends.
Prayer:
Father, I lift my eyes to You today. You are good, You are holy, and You are in control. Help me to focus more on who You are than on what I am facing. Let my perspective shift as I put You back in Your rightful place. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
