You Cannot Hold Dual Citizenship
Colossians 1:13
“For He has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son He loves.”
In the natural world, some people hold dual citizenship. They can belong to two nations at once. They may carry two passports and maintain ties to two different countries. But spiritually, the Kingdom of God does not work that way. Jesus calls us out of darkness and into light. He calls us out of one kingdom and into another.
Many people want to keep one foot in the world and one foot in the Kingdom. They want the comfort of salvation while still clinging to old patterns, old priorities, and old loyalties. But the Gospel calls us into complete surrender. Jesus is not trying to become one part of your life. He desires to become Lord over all of it.
Being born again means our primary identity changes. Our old nature no longer sits on the throne. Christ becomes King. That does not mean temptation instantly disappears or that believers never struggle, but it does mean our allegiance changes. We no longer belong to the kingdom of sin and darkness. We belong to Jesus.
The Kingdom of God reshapes how we think, speak, spend, forgive, love, and live. When Christ becomes King, every part of life begins coming under His rule. The world may still pull at us, but our citizenship has changed. We are now citizens of a Kingdom that cannot be shaken.
Prayer
Father, help me fully surrender every area of my life to You. I do not want divided loyalties or a divided heart. Teach me to live as a citizen of Your Kingdom and to walk faithfully under Your rule. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
