The Power of Your Yes

When I was fifteen years old, I gave my life to Jesus at youth camp. A pastor invited me, another pastor helped pay for my trip, but it was a volunteer youth leader named Bobby Mills who sat with me and led me in the sinner’s prayer.
Bobby may have thought he was simply attending camp to help supervise teenagers and keep them out of trouble. He couldn’t have known everything God would do through that moment. He probably didn’t know he was praying with a future pastor or that his faithfulness would eventually become part of the story of Restoration Church.
But God knew.
Paul assures us that our labor in the Lord is never wasted. We may not see the immediate result of what we do. We may serve faithfully without recognition or measurable success. But God sees every act of obedience and can produce fruit far beyond what we imagine.
A youth leader may be investing in a teenager who will one day lead thousands of people to Jesus. A kids volunteer may be teaching a child who will carry their faith into adulthood. A greeter may help someone feel safe enough to remain in a service where they surrender their life to Christ. One willing person can become part of another person’s eternal story.
We often underestimate our service because we can only see the task in front of us. God sees the generations connected to our obedience. Bobby saw a teenager who needed prayer. God saw everything that could grow from that moment.
Don’t allow the apparent size of your assignment to determine the value of your faithfulness. There are no insignificant acts of service when they help someone encounter Jesus.
REFLECT
Who served faithfully and helped you move closer to Jesus?
Did they fully understand the impact they were making at the time?
Have you ever underestimated the eternal value of something God asked you to do?
TODAY’S STEP
Send a message to someone whose service influenced your relationship with Jesus. Thank them specifically. Then ask God to show you who might need your faithful investment today.
PRAYER
God, thank You for every person who served, prayed, gave, and made room for me to encounter Jesus. Help me remember that nothing done for You is wasted. When my assignment feels small or unnoticed, give me the faith to remain steadfast. Use my yes in ways I may never see, and allow my service to become part of someone else’s story of salvation and restoration. Amen.
