Take Your Place
For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ.… Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them. - Romans 12:4–6

The Church is one body made up of many different people. We don’t all have the same function, personality, experience, or gift—and we aren’t supposed to. God created diversity within the body because His mission requires more than one kind of person.
A body becomes healthy when every part fulfills its purpose. The same is true of the Church. When believers with different gifts serve together, environments are prepared, children are discipled, guests are welcomed, worship is led, needs are met, relationships are built, and people encounter Jesus.
The person serving in kids ministry may be giving an exhausted single mother the only uninterrupted hour she has all week to worship and receive from God. A greeter may offer the first warm smile someone battling depression has received that day. A parking volunteer can help calm the anxiety of a guest who almost turned around before entering. A small-group leader can create a safe place where someone becomes vulnerable, receives prayer, and begins to heal.
Serving is rarely only about the task. It is about the person on the other side of the task.
Paul’s instruction is simple: “Let us use” the gifts God has given us. We don’t honor God’s gifts by admiring them, discussing them, or endlessly trying to identify them. We honor His gifts by using them.
You may not feel completely ready. You may not know whether a particular ministry will become your permanent place. You can still begin. Respond to the need in front of you, remain teachable, and allow God to guide you as you serve.
The question is not whether you have something to contribute. God has already said you do.
The question is whether you will make it available.
Take your place. Serve like Jesus. Become the Church.

Keep me from remaining a spectator when You have called me to participate. Help me serve with humility, consistency, and love. Use my ordinary obedience to help others encounter You. Today I choose to take my place, serve like You, and become part of the Church You are building. Amen.
