Why Church - Week 2 - Why Community

This week in our Why Church series, we look at why community matters. Starting in Acts 2:42-47, we unpack koinonia, a shared life that goes far deeper than casual fellowship, and trace the human need for belonging from Genesis 2 through Maslow's hierarchy of needs. We explore the idea of a third place, a consistent gathering spot where strangers become friends and friends become family, and why the church is meant to be more than that because it gathers people around Jesus rather than common interests. Through the story in Mark 2 of four friends who carried their paralyzed friend through a roof to reach Jesus, we see the difference between a crowd and a real community, one that can carry us into His presence when we cannot get there alone. We also hear personal stories of how relationships with neighbors and friends became the foundation for building Restoration Church. Community will not forgive your sins or heal your heart, only Jesus can do that, but it can carry you to the One who can.
