Unshakable - Week 8 - The Tension of The Kingdom

May 31, 2026    Creg Darby

This week in our Unshakable series, we tackle the tension at the heart of the Christian life: trusting a King whose Kingdom doesn't always look the way we imagined. From hospital rooms to prison cells to a Roman cross, God's people have always struggled with the distance between faith and circumstances. In Luke 23, we meet two men whose stories force us to examine our own, one who grew bitter when God didn't show up the way he expected, and one who chose to believe even in the darkest of moments. Through the words of Jesus, the doubt of John the Baptist, the theology of salvation, and the raw honesty of Habakkuk, we discover that the Kingdom is not the absence of struggle, it is God's rule right in the middle of it. Faith is not pretending everything is fine. It is looking at what looks like defeat and still calling Jesus King.
