Why Church – Week 5 – Why Reach

This week in our Why Church series, we ask why we reach. We look back at Acts 2 to see how the early church impacted their city not just on Sundays but day by day, finding favor with neighbors and coworkers through lives marked by the fruit of the Spirit found in Galatians 5:22-23. Using the three parables of the lost in Luke 15, we see that being lost never means worthless, it means valuable but separated from where we belong. We're reminded through Acts 1:8 that we are called to be witnesses, and through the story of the woman at the well that we don't need a theology degree to reach people, we simply need our own story of encountering Jesus. We close with four practical steps for reaching those far from God: praying for one, inviting one, telling one, and investing in reaching one. We are not truly being the church until we are reaching beyond the church building.
